About

Emily Hancock is a linocut printmaker based in West Yorkshire, UK. She makes hand carved, handprinted linocut prints celebrating nature, adventure and diversity. Emily uses traditional printmaking techniques, carving hessian backed biodegradable lino and using oil-based printing inks to produce intricate designs in her unique style.

Emily has family roots in India and has spent significant time exploring this beautiful country and other parts of South Asia with her backpack. During her travels, the most memorable experiences involved the people she met along the way. Learning about diverse people and cultures has always revitalised and inspired her and when she discovered linocut in 2019, it felt natural to incorporate these feelings and experiences into her art.

Emily’s work explores the human relationship with nature and the beauty of diverse people, cultures and landscapes. She hopes to create art that brings about feelings of adventure and serenity and celebrates the cultural diversity of our planet and the relationship we have with nature.

All of her linocut prints are handprinted in her studio space in West Yorkshire, which looks out onto two horses grazing on a beautiful hill. It also lies next to woodland and she regularly walks here with her family to blow away the cobwebs!

All of her prints are packed in recyclable and biodegradable packaging. Please contact via the Contact page for more information.
